Overview
A vintage Southwestern-style sterling silver ring set with two blue lapis lazuli stones. A long marquise-shaped stone runs along one side. Beside it sits a second stone cut in the shape of a small jar or pot, a classic Southwestern motif. Both stones are held in saw-tooth bezels. Two domed silver rosettes with stamped petal designs sit on either side of the pot-shaped stone. The backplate has a darker oxidized finish with small stamped marks around its edge, and the wide band has a stamped half-sun design on each side near the face. The lapis is deep blue with gold-tone pyrite flecks and lighter streaks. It is a bold, unisex statement ring for everyday wear or a Southwestern silver collection.
Background
Saw-tooth bezels, applied stamped rosettes and wide stamped bands are classic features of Southwestern silverwork from the mid-to-late 20th century. This ring is stamped "925" inside the band and carries no maker's signature. It is hand-built, with the wide band soldered to the backplate.
Condition
Good vintage condition. Both stones are secure in their bezels. The marquise stone has a fine natural vein across its lower half. There is natural oxidation across the face, light green tarnish in the recess near the stones, and light scratches inside the band. Please see all photos.
