Overview
A vintage silver-on-copper covered entree dish in two pieces. The oval base has a gadrooned rope-style rim, and the domed cover has two decorative cast handles. The cover can be turned over and used on its own as a second open serving dish. Use it for vegetables, sides or casseroles at holiday dinners, or display it on a sideboard.
Background
Covered dishes with reversible lids were made so one piece could serve two dishes at the table. The cover is stamped "Silver on Copper" on its rim. There is no maker's name.
Condition
Good vintage condition. There are light scratches and swirl marks, white spots in the base bowl and on the cover, and some wear and tarnish on the underside and rims. Please see all photos.
