Overview
A pair of vintage clear glass boudoir lamps, each 9.5 inches tall. Each lamp has a heavy faceted octagonal base and a pressed glass column with a pierced metal collar. At the top is a round glass bobeche with a petal pattern cut underneath. Cut glass spear prisms hang from octagonal glass beads around the edge of each bobeche. Each socket has a pierced metal crown, a paper candle sleeve and a turn-knob switch. They suit a vanity, nightstand or mantel, and look good with flame-tip bulbs or small clip-on shades.
Background
Glass boudoir lamps with hanging prisms were popular in American homes in the 1940s and 1950s, and this pair dates from around that time. The lamps are unmarked. The bases are solid pressed glass, and together the pair weighs about 6 lb 4.5 oz. Shades and bulbs are not included.
Condition
Good vintage condition, with no chips or cracks visible to the glass bodies. The prisms on the two lamps do not match exactly: one lamp has a different ball-and-spear prism, both have some empty hooks on the bobeche, and some prisms may have small nicks at the tips. There is light dust and wear on the bobeches, toning to the paper sleeves, and age wear to the metal crowns and collars. Both lamps have been tested and light up, and both have their original cords, plugs and turn-knob switches. Please see all photos.
Dimensions & Weight
Each lamp measures 9.5 x 4.5 x 4.5 inches (H x W x D). The pair weighs about 6 lb 4.5 oz.
