Overview This artisan lot features two distinct vintage miniature vessels with a silver-plated finish over solid brass. Each piece showcases expressive hand-engraved and chased metalworking techniques. One vessel boasts a flared scalloped rim and a detailed pictorial pastoral scene of livestock and rural figures, while the companion baluster vase displays traditional arabesque motifs framed by a rope-twist rim. Together, this silvered duo provides a striking metallic accent for shelf styling, mantle curation, or Wabi-Sabi and global bohemian interior aesthetics.
Cultural & Artistic Background Rooted in the long-standing metalworking traditions of Near Eastern and Silk Road artisanal centers, these pieces feature a silvered plating over a brass core, enhanced through cold-chasing, stippling, and repoussé detailing. The conical vase presents narrative folk iconography, capturing a shepherd tending to sheep amidst trees and rolling hills. The companion vase reflects classic regional ornament through interlocking cartouches, palmettes, and fine background punch-work. The high contrast created by dark oxidation within the silvered relief grooves emphasizes the intricate relief work.
Condition & Surface Character • Both vessels are in strong vintage condition with an authentic aged patina and deliberate contrast. • The scalloped pastoral vase displays prominent dark oxidation settled deeply into the chased details, dramatically highlighting the shepherd figures and grazing sheep against the silvered backdrop. • The baluster vase exhibits a softened silver-plated finish with gentle surface tarnishing and subtle hints of the underlying warm brass metal showing through areas of natural handling wear. • Bases and rims are structurally sound, standing flat and secure without structural distortion.
