Overview
A vintage microscope condenser arm with a rack and pinion focus and a centering ring. The curved arm has a black finish, with a machined flat mounting face at the top that has guide pins and screw holes, and two knurled screws along the back of the spine. At the bottom, a carrier slides on a brass-tone dovetail rail, and two large knurled knobs move it up and down. The carrier holds a silver-tone ring with three knurled centering screws and a side locking pin. It suits someone restoring a vintage microscope that is missing this part, or a collector of scientific instruments.
Background
Arms like this hold the condenser and light path in line with the stage, and the rack and pinion lets the user set the condenser height. The shape suggests it came from an inverted-style microscope, where the light comes from above the stage. There is no visible maker name or model number. It has not been tested on a microscope, so please check fit and mounting against your instrument before buying.
Condition
Good vintage condition. The two knobs move the condenser ring up and down smoothly. The black finish has light rubs and small marks, with some wear on the edges and on the back screws. The brass-tone rail has light toning. Please see all photos.
