Overview
This vibrant four-piece collection of vintage hand-carved hardwood miniature masks presents an array of expressive folk art characters. Displaying bold polychrome hues of forest green, fiery crimson, sunshine yellow, and accented line work, these miniature wall sculptures bring dynamic color and folk narrative to gallery wall arrangements, shelf styling, mantel displays, or Global Eclectic interior concepts.
Cultural & Artistic Background
Rooted in Latin American festival and carnival mask-making traditions, each piece showcases distinct hand-chiseling and painted character ornamentation. The set includes a green horned character with prominent fanged detail, a red facial mask with geometric brow striping, a narrow creature mask with teeth and forehead bands, and a yellow horned face with striking red facial striping. The reverse sides display hollowed carved contours revealing natural wood gouge marks and raw grain integrity.
Condition & Surface Character
All four masks remain structurally solid and intact, offering light hollowed profiles ideal for display. The hand-painted finishes exhibit crisp color saturation with faint edge maturation, micro paint flaking, and light handling wear consistent with vintage folk craft items. Natural wood grain checking and gouge variations are present on the raw reverse surfaces.
