Description
A beautifully expressive vintage hand-carved rosewood water buffalo figurine, featuring a dynamic and engaging pose.
Unlike the standard reclining figures, this piece captures the buffalo in a moment of movement, with its head turned sharply back over its shoulder. The craftsmanship is detailed, showcasing fine incised lines for the animal's coarse hair, a distinct open-mouthed expression showing teeth/tongue, and the classic conical hat resting on its back.
Key features:
Rich, reddish-brown rosewood construction with deep grain texture
Distinct Pose: Reclining with head turned backward, creating a sense of interaction
Custom Base: Displayed on a custom-carved, irregular-shaped black wooden base (landscape/rock style) rather than a simple block
Finely carved facial features with open mouth and inlaid/painted eyes
Small woven conical hat detail carved in relief
The piece is in excellent vintage condition with a warm, glossy patina. The intricate carving on the base complements the complex pose of the buffalo, making it a standout piece for a collection.
A wonderful decorative miniature, perfect for a desk or shelf display.
