Overview A striking two-piece vintage brass decorative set featuring a handled tankard-style mug and a compact lidded storage canister. Richly decorated with intricate hand-chased floral scrollwork and vibrant crimson, rose, and emerald enamel fills, this matching ensemble showcases classic folk artwork. The warm metallic tones and detailed peacock motifs provide a vivid pop of color and artisanal texture for Bohemian, Global Eclectic, or Vintage Maximalist interiors, ideal for display on open shelving, mantels, or vanity trays.
Cultural & Artistic Background Originating from traditional South Asian metalworking centers known for fine enamelware (Meenakari and chiseled brass craft), these pieces highlight regional artisanal heritage. The exterior surfaces are entirely covered in fine floral arabesques and stylized peacock (Mayura) cartouches—symbols of grace, pride, and prosperity. Crafted by hand-engraving the heavy brass core and painstakingly filling the recessed relief areas with colored enamel pigments before polishing the exposed brass borders, this set represents mid-century decorative craft designed for functional ornament and global export.
Condition & Surface Character • Excellent structural integrity with sturdy brass bases and solid construction. • Richly preserved enamel fill with vibrant red, pink, and green coloration throughout the etched scrollwork. • Natural vintage tarnish, gentle patina, and minor surface oxidation inside the vessel interiors. • Lid of the small canister fits securely onto its rim with a solid brass finial knob intact.
