Overview
A signed, limited-edition print of "Ambassadors" by wildlife artist Charles Fracé, showing two koalas in a eucalyptus tree. A large adult koala grips the main trunk and looks straight at the viewer, while a smaller young koala sits on a lower branch. Fracé painted the fur in fine detail, against soft blue sky, grey-green bark and slender eucalyptus leaves. The print comes in its original publisher's folder with all its paperwork. It would suit a study, nursery, living room, or anyone who loves Australian wildlife.
Background
"Ambassadors" was published in 1990 by the American Masters Foundation of Houston, Texas. According to the enclosed certificate, it was issued to benefit the Center for Reproduction of Endangered Species of the Zoological Society of San Diego. The print is pencil-signed by Charles Fracé and numbered 823, and the species line beneath the image reads "Koala (Phascolarctos cinereus adustus)". It comes with the original grey presentation folder, protective tissue, certificate of authenticity stamped 823/2000 SP, the "Welcome to the World of Charles Fracé" biography sheet, and the unused collector card. Fracé (born 1926) was a well-known American wildlife painter whose prints were widely collected.
