Overview
A vintage sterling silver pendant set with a pearly nautilus shell. The shell has been polished to show its natural mother-of-pearl, with soft flashes of blue, green, pink and silver, and the spiral of the shell is clearly visible on the front. It is set in a smooth silver frame that follows the shape of the shell, with a flat shell panel on the back. It hangs from a wide silver bail that fits most chains or cords.
Background
The bail is stamped "925" for sterling silver. There is no maker's mark. This piece came from an estate auction.
Condition
Good vintage condition with one flaw: there is a small hole, about 0.2 inches, in the side wall of the shell, where you can see into the inside of the shell. It does not show from the front, and the shell is secure in its setting. The silver has light tarnish and light surface scratches. Please see all photos.
