Overview
Pair of tall two-tone candlesticks by Maitland-Smith. Each has a silver-tone column shaft with two brass rings, a round brass base, a wide brass drip pan, and a brass candle cup with a removable brass insert. The warm brass against the silver-tone shaft suits Hollywood Regency, traditional or modern rooms, on a dining table, mantel or console.
Background
Maitland-Smith was founded in Hong Kong in 1979 by Paul Maitland-Smith, formerly a London antiques dealer, and became known for decorative furnishings and accessories. The underside of the base carries the original foil label: "Designed and hand made in Hong Kong by Maitland-Smith Ltd."
Condition
Pre-owned, structurally sound and stable. The brass has a warm, unpolished patina with light toning. The underside of the bases shows dark and bluish oxidation spots. The candle cups have light residue inside. Both removable brass inserts are included. Please see all photos.
