Overview
A rectangular vanity or dresser tray in cream-colored celluloid of the type sold as "French Ivory". It has a low raised rim and stepped, notched corners, and the surface shows fine parallel grain lines. It works well on a dresser or vanity for perfume bottles, jewelry or small accessories.
Background
"French Ivory" celluloid vanity pieces were popular in the early 20th century, when trays, brushes, mirrors and boxes were often sold as matching dresser sets. The underside of this tray is impressed "IVORY" in an arch over "CATHEDRAL". It is a single tray, not a full set.
Condition
Used, with age. The top surface has many scattered amber and yellow spots and some whitish residue. The underside has a few light marks. No chips or cracks were noted. Please see all photos.
