Overview
A vintage silverplate creamer by Poole, shown with a round silverplate underplate by Oneida. The creamer has a rounded body on a stepped pedestal foot, a raised band around the middle, a wide pouring spout and a tall scroll handle with leaf details at the top and base. The inside has a warm gold-tone finish. The underplate is a plain round dish with a deep center well and a narrow rim, and the creamer's foot sits neatly inside it. The pieces have natural toning, and together they suit a tea or coffee tray, a sideboard or a display shelf.
Background
Poole Silver Co. of Taunton, Massachusetts, and Oneida Ltd. of Oneida, New York, were both well-known American makers of silverplate tableware in the 20th century. The underside of the creamer is stamped "EPCA / SILVERPLATE / BY POOLE" with a partly worn model number beginning "10"; EPCA stands for electroplate on copper alloy. The underplate is stamped "ONEIDA LTD." The two pieces are by different makers and are offered together as a set.
Condition
Good vintage condition with no dents or repairs seen. Both pieces have natural toning and light surface scratches, and the underside of the creamer's foot shows heavier toning and wear. Please see all photos.
Dimensions & Weight
The creamer measures 5 x 4.2 x 3.5 inches (H x W x D) and weighs about 8.5 oz. The underplate is 6 inches in diameter and 0.7 inches deep, and weighs 8 oz. Together they weigh 1 lb 0.5 oz.
