Overview A fine duo of vintage metal animal sculptures, featuring an officially hallmark-stamped 1975 Franklin Mint fine pewter Bighorn Sheep (Ram) alongside a heavy cast metal Rooster (Cock) with a dark antiqued finish. These detailed desk sculptures double as decorative paperweights and cabinet curios. Their combined metallic textures make them compelling accents for rustic mantel vignettes, bookshelf styling, executive desk setups, or country lodge and farmhouse interior concepts.
Cultural & Artistic Background The Bighorn Sheep was produced in 1975 by The Franklin Mint as part of their signature fine pewter wildlife series, renowned for anatomical fidelity, realistic fleece molding, and spiraled horn sculpting atop a craggy rock base. The accompanying rooster figure is cast in a dense, heavy metal alloy with a rich, multi-tonal dark bronze and pewter-tone patina that highlights detailed wing plumage, comb detailing, and a dynamic crowing posture.
Condition & Surface Character Both figurines are in excellent vintage condition with sound structural integrity. The pewter ram retains its original crisp cast markings on the underside—including the title, date, copyright, and official Franklin Mint hallmark symbol—and features intact protective green felt pads. The rooster figurine exhibits a solid, heavy-in-hand weight with subtle metallic highlights showing through its patinated surface, offering authentic vintage character without damage or repair.
