Description Cultural & Historical Background Combining traditional metal engraving with vibrant miniature painting aesthetics, this hand-incised brass deep dish highlights the rich literary and poetic traditions of Middle Eastern art. Artisans craft these pieces by dark-patinating heavy brass or bronze, hand-etching fine contours into the surface, and filling the incised pockets with bright polychrome enamel pigments. Measuring 11.5 inches across with a deep 2-inch catch basin, this statement bowl features a celebrated romantic motif inspired by classical Middle Eastern poetry: Central Portrait of Lovers: Features a courtly man and woman in traditional patterned headcovers and rich robes. The man holds a decorative goblet (jam) to his lips, evoking timeless poetic allegories of love, celebration, and spiritual joy. Polychrome Enamel Accents: Hand-painted with vivid turquoise blue, magenta pink, violet, and warm orange enamel details that pop dramatically against the dark, oxidized brass basin. Garland & Dotwork Borders: Surrounded by delicate incised border rings and a perimeter vine dotted with colorful enamel blossoms. Deep Dish Profile: Unlike flat wall chargers, this piece features a raised 2-inch rim and a flared footed base, allowing it to function both as an eye-catching tabletop centerpiece tray or a display dish.
