Overview A paired set of Japanese carved hardwood netsuke miniatures, featuring two entwined playing puppies alongside a crouching recumbent tiger. Embodying playfulness and protection, these hand-carved accents integrate seamlessly into Japandi, Wabi-Sabi, and Global Eclectic interior concepts. Perfect for display on curio shelves, executive desk trays, or accent altars. Cultural & Artistic Background Rooted in Japanese netsuke craft and traditional zodiac symbolism, this dual figurine set showcases skilled relief carving. One piece depicts two playful puppies (Inu) tumbling together in an expressive, compact composition. The second piece depicts a recumbent tiger (Tora) rendered with incised body stripes, a roaring facial expression, and a scalloped carved oval base featuring functional dual himotoshi cord holes and an incised artist hallmark. Condition & Surface Character Both sculptures are structurally sound, dense, and preserved without cracks or chips. The hardwood presents a deep dark chestnut stain with warm amber highlights on raised details. Intricate fur and stripe incisions remain sharp, complemented by light, smooth surface wear from gentle handling that enhances the natural patina over time.
