Overview This pair of vintage hand-painted lacquer wood trinket boxes showcases rich South Asian folk art traditions across two distinct geometries: a round cylindrical vessel and a low oval container. Ideal for credenzas, vanity tables, or mantel arrangements, these accent pieces bring storytelling and vibrant color to Global Eclectic, Boho, and Traditional decor. Cultural & Artistic Background Inspired by traditional miniature painting styles, each piece features delicate hand-painted narrative scenes. The round black-lacquered box depicts a seated court ruler receiving attendants across a red cross-hatched rug, flanked by leaping gazelle motifs around its outer walls. The oval gold-lacquered container depicts a turbaned equestrian figure atop a galloping charger, bordered by running antelopes along the rim. Original paper export stickers remain preserved on the undersides. Condition & Surface Character Both boxes maintain good structural integrity with smooth-fitting lift-off lids. The painted lacquer surfaces exhibit minor age-appropriate edge wear, subtle micro-crazing, and light lacquer rubbing near the rims consistent with authentic vintage handling. Interior cavities are finished in clean black protective paint.
