Vintage Hand Painted Lacquer Wood Box Set Polo Eastern Europe Marquetry 3pc

Cultural & Historical Provenance
Introduce a remarkably storied layer of global artistry to your interior vignettes with this curated trio of vintage handcrafted trinket and playing card boxes. Representing three entirely distinct regional folk art techniques, this collection forms an instant conversational display perfect for a classic library desk, game room, or eclectic vanity.
The Hand-Painted Polo Card Box: The centerpiece of this suite is a substantial, warm yellow lacquered wood valet specifically designed to house a double deck of playing cards. The lid and side panels are beautifully hand-painted with lively scenes of polo players on horseback. This motif honors the ancient heritage of polo (chaugán), which originated as a royal cavalry training game in ancient Persia before evolving into a prestigious sport across South Asia and the global elite.
The Indo-Persian Miniature Lacquer Box: Featuring an exquisite, fine-brush miniature painting on the lid, this box showcases a classical courtly encounter in a blooming landscape. The sides are wrapped in micro-patterned geometric and floral borders characteristic of traditional Eastern lacquerware traditions, making it a jewel-like container for fine keepsakes.
The Eastern European Architectural Box: Rounding out the collection is a beautifully timed light-wood box showcasing traditional Eastern European folk art decoration. The lid features a multi-toned, incised graphic overlay depicting a historic fortified citadel complete with iconic red towers and stylized onion domes. It stands as a brilliant example of mid-century regional woodcraft and structural geometric design.
