Vintage Eastern European Lacquered Wood Platter Floral Hand Painted Dish 11.5"

Overview
An exquisite 11.5-inch hand-painted wooden lacquer platter featuring ornate botanical scrollwork and intricate concentric floral medallions. Set against a deep, lustrous jet-black lacquer backdrop, the radiant metallic gold and fine ivory-cream brushstrokes bring rich visual texture and Old World warmth to any interior setting. Ideally styled as a table center display on a credenza, a rustic wall charger in a dining space, or a bold accent piece within Wabi-Sabi, Boho, or Global Eclectic decor themes.
Cultural & Artistic Background
Rooted in classic Eastern European folk art and Slavic craft traditions, this hand-turned wooden dish showcases traditional freehand lacquer painting techniques. Artisans layer dense metallic pigments over dark lacquered wooden bases, utilizing fine-line etching and hatching methods to create multi-layered floral compositions. The central motif exhibits a stylized lotus-like bloom surrounded by sweeping tendrils and leaf vines, reflecting regional symbolism of prosperity, nature, and harvest abundance.
Condition & Surface Character
The platter remains in solid structural condition with no structural cracks or warping to the turned wood body. The painted face retains high-contrast vibrancy with clear detailing. Subtle rub marks and micro-flecking along the outer rim perimeter highlight genuine age and authentic hand-crafted provenance. The reverse side features a smooth, glossy black lacquer finish with faint, light scuffs typical of vintage display handling.
