Overview
A vintage Chilean 950 silver link necklace with alternating green malachite and black onyx stones. Each rounded-square stone sits in its own silver bezel, and the links are joined by small hinges, so the necklace lies flat and follows the curve of the neck. The green stones show the curved light and dark banding typical of malachite, and the black stones have a smooth, glossy polish. The backs of the links are plain, polished silver. It closes with a box clasp and a fold-over safety catch. It can be worn as an everyday collar or as a statement piece with a plain neckline.
Background
Chile has a long tradition of silver jewelry set with natural stones, and alternating stone link necklaces like this one were widely made there in the late 20th century. The back of the clasp is stamped "CHILE" and "950", the mark for silver that is 95% pure, a little higher than sterling (92.5%). The stones are identified by their appearance and have not been lab tested.
Condition
Good vintage condition. The silver has fine scratches and light tarnish, mostly on the backs of the links, with slight greenish discoloration near a few hinges. One green stone near the clasp has a small yellowish patch. No missing stones or broken links are visible, and the clasp and safety catch are present. Please see all photos.

The necklace is about 17 inches long. This is an estimate, as the hinged links do not lie fully straight for measuring. It weighs about 1.6 oz (45 g).
