Overview A delightful vintage trio of hand-carved wooden frog musician sculptures from Bali, bursting with expressive character and traditional craftsmanship. Hand-painted in warm ochre yellow with concentric spotted skin patterns, bright red accents, and gilt floral bases, this ensemble features a singer/dancer in a ceremonial headpiece, a central gong player with mallet, and a flute player. Ideal for Bohemian, Eclectic, Tropical, or Whimsical Folk Art interior styling across bookshelves, sideboards, or mantels.
Cultural & Artistic Background Rooted in Indonesian folk craft traditions—specifically Balinese woodcarving—animal musician ensembles represent a cherished motif in island folklore and decorative art. Artisans hand-carve native softwoods before applying layered tempera pigments, fine inked line work, and traditional gilt floral stenciling along the pedestal bases. These expressive zoomorphic band members symbolize harmony, joy, and community celebration.
Condition & Surface Character • Hand-carved solid wood construction remains sturdy and freestanding overall. • Middle gong-playing figure features a stable, age-appropriate wood shrinkage crack along the front pedestal base (visually documented in photos; does not affect standing stability or structural integrity). • Polychrome tempera pigments and gilt base flourishes remain vibrant with light, authentic vintage surface patina. • Complete 3-piece matched band offers an appealing tabletop arrangement.
Dimensions & Weight • Height: Up to 8.0 inches (tallest figure) • Width/Diameter: 3.2 inches • Depth: 2.5 inches
