The artistry involved in this piece is stunning. It utilizes the traditional shwe gyi technique, where figures are padded with cotton to create a high-relief, three-dimensional effect that literally pops off the black velvet background. The elephant is lavishly adorned with metallic gold and silver threads, glass beads, and sequins (spangles).
The piece was professionally framed by "The Frame Factory" (a vintage Virginia framer) in a sleek gold-tone metal frame that perfectly complements the metallic embroidery. It makes for a dramatic focal point in a living room, hallway, or office.
