Overview
A striking artifact of sacred metalwork, this antique cast brass hanging oil vessel brings grounded warmth and soulful age to modern interiors. Suspended by its original articulated link chain, the bowl features five projecting wick spouts around its perimeter and a central tapered suspension spire. Its deeply aged verdigris surface and sculptural profile make it a compelling focal point for Wabi-Sabi, Rustic Boho, Zen Meditation, or Eclectic sanctuary spaces.
Cultural & Artistic Background
Handcrafted using traditional lost-wax casting techniques, this form draws from classical South Asian temple and altar lighting traditions, known as Thooku Vilakku. The five perimeter spouts were designed to hold cotton wicks steeped in ritual oils during temple ceremonies and domestic devotionals. Turn-incised banding encircles the bulbous body, showcasing the hand-lathed finishing typical of historic regional foundry artisans.

• Deep, authentic verdigris oxidation and dark charcoal-green patina preserved across the metal body.
• Historic oil and wax residue present within the interior basin, highlighting genuine ritual use.
• Minor surface pitting, slight unevenness, and natural casting nuances consistent with age and handmade origin.
