Product Overview Add a touch of old-world European elegance to your collection with this vintage Bohemian ruby flashed cut-to-clear glass covered candy dish. Measuring 6 inches tall by 6.8 inches in diameter, this striking lidded compote features a vibrant cranberry-red stain beautifully cut away to reveal clear glass underneath. The exterior is decorated with intricate frosted scrollwork, baroque flourishes, and a delicate lattice/crosshatch pattern. Cultural & Historical Significance This style of glass represents a world-famous Czech decorative tradition originating in the North Bohemian region (modern-day Czech Republic). The Egermann Process: The deep ruby red coloration mimics the legendary technical breakthroughs of Friedrich Egermann in the early 1830s, who perfected a unique high-temperature copper staining method that revolutionized European glass art. Traditional Motifs: The pairing of high-luster red glass with frosted, wheel-carved engravings of scrolling architectural elements and natural flora was a staple of mid-to-late 20th-century Bohemian luxury art glass, highly prized as parlor display pieces across Europe and North America. Condition Report & Specifications Material: Flashed crystal/art glass Dimensions: 6" Height x 6.8" Diameter Condition Notice (As-Is): This piece shows minor signs of age and wear. Most notably, there are a few small chips and fleabites along the inner rim edges where the lid meets the base bowl (clearly documented in the close-up listing photographs). These flaws are primarily internal and are completely hidden from view when the lid is resting on the dish, leaving the stunning exterior display value fully intact.
