Cultural & Historical Provenance
Celebrate the golden age of European Grand Tour travel and classical music heritage with this mid-century vintage mechanical music box. This exceptional piece represents an elegant collaboration between traditional Austrian artisan woodworking and world-renowned Swiss mechanical engineering.
The Case & Austrian Provenance: The polished hardwood case features a striking, warm amber lacquer finish with a beautifully shaded sunburst gradient along its perimeter. Inset into the center of the lid is a classical bronze-tone relief portrait medallion depicting Vienna's most famous musical genius, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. The underside bears its rare, original foil boutique label from Kunsthandwerk Souvenir Hans Pölzer, an elite mid-century artisan craft studio located within the historic Hofburg Palace—the principal imperial winter residence of the Habsburg dynasty in the heart of Vienna (Wien I).
The Mechanical Movement: The interior chamber houses a premium, authentic Swiss cylinder musical movement crafted by Reuge in Sainte-Croix, Switzerland. Wound via the original stamped Reuge key on the base, the mechanism plays with exquisite clarity and perfect timing.
Designed with an integrated dual-purpose interior, the left side offers an open, clean wood compartment perfectly sized for sorting rings, cufflinks, or small vanity keepsakes, while the musical movement is safely nestled behind a protective right partition.
