Pair Vintage 1984 Franklin Mint Duck Figurines RLB Tall Pedestal Stand

Overview
This pair of vintage 1984 Franklin Mint waterfowl sculptures features two distinct duck figures in alert standing poses, each elevated upon an extra-tall 4-inch hexagonal solid hardwood pedestal. Designed by wildlife sculptor R.L.B., these dramatic 6-inch architectural accents bring refined sporting art heritage to executive desk displays, gentleman’s library bookcases, rustic cabin mantels, or formal entryway credenzas.
Cultural & Artistic Background
Commissioned and issued by the Franklin Mint in 1984 as part of an official North American game bird collection, both sculptures bear the artist initials "R.L.B." alongside the copyright mark "© FM 84" incised directly into their ground bases. Crafted using precision cold-cast resin techniques, each bird captures intricate anatomical detailing—from layered wing coverts and webbed foot structures to smooth bill contours. A hand-applied multi-tonal bronze patination covers the dark resin composite core, providing the rich aesthetic presence and texture of traditional foundry metalwork.
Condition & Surface Character
Both waterfowl sculptures and their tall hexagonal wooden display columns are in excellent, sound structural condition. The maker hallmarks "R.L.B. © FM 84" remain crisp, deep, and fully legible on both bases. The bronzed surface finish shows excellent retention with subtle highlight wear along raised plumage edges consistent with age. The tall hexagonal hardwood pedestals feature smooth clear coat polish, sharp geometric bevels, and warm natural wood grain.
