Perfect for curated bookshelf styling, mantel displays, or credenza centerpieces in modern Mediterranean, Wabi-Sabi, or Global Eclectic interiors. Includes complimentary, fully insured standard shipping.
Deep Cultural & Historical Background
Each vessel in this collection celebrates a distinct epoch of ancient Mediterranean ceramic history:
The High-Handled Oinochoe (Pitcher): Features a detailed Attic Red-Figure scene of a seated musician playing a classical lyre before a ritual altar. The upper neck displays a crisp meander geometric band, while the reverse holds a bold anthemion palmette motif.
The Squat Rhodes Aryballos (Center): Inscribed Nº 276 Rhodes Motif 700 B.C., this piece highlights the Orientalizing period's animal style, rendered in warm ochre, red, and cream slips with stylized wild goats, birds, solar rosettes, and a lotus rim border.
The Black-Figure Lekythos (Right): Inscribed with reference to a 480 B.C. Louvre Museum Kylix, this flask depicts a potter burnishing a vessel inside an ancient workshop, framed by palmettes and geometric registers.
Each vessel bears hand-lettered artist signatures on the underside confirming its handmade origin in Greece by D. Vassilopoulos.
Condition & Surface Character
Preserved in excellent vintage condition with minor age-appropriate surface wear. Clay bodies retain structural integrity with no cracks, major chips, or structural restorations. Hand-applied slip pigments remain vibrant with light, authentic matte patina across the bases. Hand-lettered maker inscriptions on the undersides remain clear and crisp.
