Complimentary, fully insured shipping is included with purchase. Deep Cultural & Historical Background Crafted in the famed Fuzhou lacquer tradition—one of Eastern Asia's most celebrated decorative arts—these vessels showcase the meticulous art of multi-layer sap lacquer coating. Handcrafted by artisans at the renowned Ling Dai Mi workshop (marked in Chinese characters and English on the underside bases), each piece is built up using successive coats of natural urushi resin applied over a precision-turned core. The brilliant vermilion exterior finish carries deep cultural symbolism, representing vitality, joy, and good fortune, while the matte black interior creates an understated, grounding contrast. Ling Dai Mi & Co. stood alongside historic master lacquer houses of Fuzhou, producing wares praised internationally for their featherweight durability and lustrous depth. Condition & Surface Character The pair remains in solid vintage condition with excellent structural integrity. The lacquer surfaces retain a warm, polished luster with minor, age-appropriate perimeter edge wear and subtle surface micro-abrasions consistent with gentle handling over time. The undersides bear their original intact circular paper seals reading "LING DAI MI WARE / FOOCHOW / MADE IN CHINA" surrounding classical Chinese maker hallmarks.
