A decorative pair of figural brass candlesticks on white marble bases, 14 inches tall, made in the Victorian / Rococo Revival style. Age is not confirmed, so we describe them by style, not by date.

Item Specifics

Style: Victorian style / Rococo Revival / Neo-Gothic
Type: Candlesticks, pair
Material: Cast brass or bronze alloy; marble base
Figural subject: Two figures in a pastoral or rustic scene
Dimensions (each): About 14" high x 5.5" wide x 2" deep (base)

Description

Each candlestick has an ornate cast figural base showing two figures surrounded by foliage and fence-like details. The metal has a deep, dark patina with some green verdigris, which many collectors prefer to leave as is. Each figure is mounted on a rectangular marble base with grey and tan veining. Tall decorated stems hold pierced rims (bobeches) around the candle cups. No prisms are included.

At 14 inches tall, the pair makes a strong statement on a mantel, console table or sideboard.
