The set features a polished, round Kirk Stieff pewter jewelry bowl lined in rich royal-blue velvet alongside a hand-turned botanical apple container topped with a sculpted stem and leaf handle. Displaying soft matte metallic patinas, these decorative containers bring tactile elegance to a bedroom vanity, desk credenza, or entryway catch-all dish.
Deep Cultural & Historical Background
The larger, low-profile round dish carries the prestigious hallmark of Kirk Stieff, a celebrated Baltimore metalworking workshop renowned for leading 20th-century American pewter revivals. Its interior is fitted with vibrant velvet felt, traditionally designed to protect fine jewelry and keepsakes from metallic tarnish or abrasion. The accompanying apple-shaped vessel reflects traditional Indonesian pewter casting and lathe-finishing techniques. Rich in tin deposits, Southeast Asian metalcrafters have long produced decorative hollowware celebrated for organic, nature-inspired motifs. The detailed stem pull and incised horizontal banding evoke mid-century biomorphic design movements.
Condition & Surface Character
Both pieces remain in excellent vintage condition with sound structural integrity. The pewter exteriors display a characteristic mellow satin patina, subtle surface micro-scratching, and faint oxidation consistent with authentic age. The blue velvet interior of the monogrammed dish remains clean, plush, and intact. Both lids fit comfortably and securely atop their bases.
Dimensions & Weight
Kirk Stieff Monogrammed Vessel:
Height: 2.0 inches
Width/Diameter: 4.0 inches
Depth: 4.0 inches
Botanical Apple Vessel:
Height: 3.0 inches (including stem handle)
Width/Diameter: 3.3 inches
Depth: 3.3 inches
Weight Profile: Moderate (Solid cast pewter alloy)

https://belleafrikarts.com/products/vintage-pewter-box-set-kirk-stieff-monogram-indonesian-apple-trinket-dish
