Darker toning in the recessed ground makes the brass figures stand out. The lid lifts on a long hinge to a red velvet interior, which makes it a good box for jewelry, keepsakes or small treasures. It suits a dresser, desk, shelf or coffee table.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003ch3\u003eBackground\u003c\/h3\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe scenes on this box are modeled on the procession reliefs of ancient Near Eastern palaces, with chariots, guards and winged guardian beasts.
