Rising to a height of 8 inches, each candle holder features a multi-knopped baluster stem anchored by a weighted, faceted octagonal base with cut-corner details. The warm golden tone and substantial weight make this set an exceptional addition to a formal dining table, sideboard mantel, or heritage interior setting.
Deep Cultural & Historical Background
Drawing direct inspiration from the refined brassworking traditions of Georgian-era Britain and Colonial America, these candlesticks embody the architectural balance characteristic of mid-18th-century metalcraft. During this period, turned and cast brass table appointments transitioned from simple circular bases to sophisticated octagonal and faceted geometries. Traditional sand-casting methods leave a raw, unpolished cavity within the hollowed undersides while yielding dense, durable exterior walls capable of catching and reflecting ambient candlelight across formal spaces.
Condition & Surface Character
The pair exhibits an authentic, unpolished vintage patina with scattered surface oxidation, light tarnish within the turned crevices, and minor trace wax residue inside the sockets. One candlestick features a small, minor surface dent along the central knop section, consistent with age and traditional household handling. Structural integrity remains sound, and both faceted bases sit completely stable and flush on flat surfaces.
Dimensions & Stand Inclusion
Height: 8.0 inches
Width/Diameter: 3.5 inches
Depth: 3.5 inches
Weight Profile: Solid / Relatively Heavy
Mounting/Display: Display stand not included (self-standing pair).

https://belleafrikarts.com/products/antique-cast-brass-candlesticks-pair-octagonal-base-georgian-style-8
